We actually made it to the pumpkin patch this year! It was a beautiful day and we enjoyed ourselves tremendously! The girls love animals and want to pet everything! I am so thankful that they don't have allergies!!! Happy Fall Everyone!

July 3rd BBQ at the CDC
Durango and Ouray Co - June 2013
We took a trip over Fathers Day weekend to Durango and rode the Narrow Gauge Railroad to "The Dinosaur Village". We got to meet Buddy from "The Dinosaur Train" and dig for dinosaur bones! After our day with Buddy, we drove over the million dollar highway to Ouray and spent 2 days there. What a BEAUTIFUL place! I loved it! Colorado is such an amazing state - I'm happy to be able to share it with my girls!

A Poem Worth Reading
He was getting old and paunchy
And his hair was falling fast,
And he sat around the Legion,
Telling stories of the past.
Of a war that he once fought in
And the deeds that he had done,
In his exploits with his buddies;
They were heroes, every one.
And 'tho sometimes to his neighbors
His tales became a joke,
All his buddies listened quietly
For they knew where of he spoke.
But we'll hear his tales no longer,
For ol' Joe has passed away,
And the world's a little poorer
For a Soldier died today.
He won't be mourned by many,
Just his children and his wife.
For he lived an ordinary,
Very quiet sort of life.
He held a job and raised a family,
Going quietly on his way;
And the world won't note his passing,
'Tho a Soldier died today.
When politicians leave this earth,
Their bodies lie in state,
While thousands note their passing,
And proclaim that they were great.
Papers tell of their life stories
From the time that they were young
But the passing of a Soldier
Goes unnoticed, and unsung.
Is the greatest contribution
To the welfare of our land,
Some jerk who breaks his promise
And cons his fellow man?
Or the ordinary fellow
Who in times of war and strife,
Goes off to serve his country
And offers up his life?
The politician's stipend and
the style in which he lives,
Are often disproportionate,
To the service that he gives.
While the ordinary Soldier,
Who offered up his all,
Is paid off with a medal
And perhaps a pension, small.
It is not the politicians
With their compromise and ploys,
Who won for us the freedom
That our country now enjoys.
Should you find yourself in danger,
With your enemies at hand,
Would you really want some cop-out,
With his ever waffling stand?

The Denver Aquarium
This year our trip to the aquarium was paid for by my mother in laws work, People Bank. It was very nice, they provided lunch, admission to the aquarium for Brenda and all of us. It was really fun! The girls love the aquarium and love to go. I love that they get so excited when they see the animals.
Taylor even held a cricket and fed it to the archer fish. These fish are SO neat - they shoot water at their prey and knock them out so that they fall into the water and then eat them. If you put your hand over the tank, they'd shoot water at you. I wasn't holding a cricket, so daddy helped Tay. Kat and Lei didnt' want to hold the cricket but they did put their hands over the tank.
We also bought tickets for them to ride the train, the carousel and do the Ice Age 4D ride. It was a great day!!!

My first 5K....
Chris and I have made a commitment to get healthy this year. We have been working out with the Insanity DVD's and watching our diets. It is SO much easier to do it with another person and I'm so happy that other person is Chris. He has lost almost 60lbs since February and I've lost 14 since the beginning of April. He looks amazing and I am so proud of him for sticking to it!
One of my small goals was to participate in a 5K. My friend Kim invited me to do the Glow Run / Walk with her. It was a 5k at night and you were encouraged to wear things that glowed. We decided to dress up like Bumble Bees! After I signed up with Kims team, I found out that my sister and brother in law were participating as well so we all met at the run and had a great time!

My second goal was to finish the Insanity series which Chris and I completed at the end of May. Goal number three is to lose enough weight to get into "Onederland" and finally get down to my goal weight and size and be that smoking hot mom at the park that everyone is jealous of! HA! Ok - maybe not THAT mom, but I will be able to run and ride bikes with the girls and keep up! I want to see my great grandchildren!!!!

I suffer from judgementalism.....
Being judgmental is something that we all have issues with - I don’t think there is one person in the world that doesn't have preconceived notions about behaviors or morals which turn into expectations for people to act or react like.
I suffer from judgementalism.
I am the first to admit that I can be a very snarky person at times, but I try VERY hard to recognize that in myself and change it.
There are some things, however, that I do stand firm on and I don't consider that being judgmental, I consider that standing up for what I believe in.
#1 - The 2nd Amendment: I am a FIRM believer that every American, every PERSON, should have the right to own firearms and protect themselves. I understand that people want gun reform and I get the general premise behind it, however, stricter gun laws only takes guns away from law abiding citizens - it does NOTHING about the guns in the criminal hands that have been obtained illegally. Why doesn’t the government come up with a plan for that and leave the law abiding citizens alone?
#2 - Reproductive Rights: I believe that every person, whether male or female should have the right to medical coverage for fertility issues. I believe that everyone should be able to get IVF coverage as well as access to medicine needed to help or prevent a pregnancy. I believe that all children deserve a chance and the only time an abortion should be allowed is if the mother’s life is in peril.
#3 – Christian Organizations Rights: I believe that Christian organizations should be allowed to structure their businesses based on their religious beliefs. For example, I don’t think anyone should be able to force Chick Fil A to be open on Sunday or Hobby Lobby to provide insurance for the morning after pill if it’s against their religious beliefs.
I think too many people hide behind their “beliefs and morals” and use it as an excuse to be assholes. There are so many people in this world that are just plain rude. They use any excuse they can to explain their bad behavior vs. just being an adult and standing up for it.
Just because my opinion is different than yours doesn’t give you the right to be shitty to me in the name of “sharing opinions.” Don’t assume that I don’t know what you’re going through or what you’ve been through and that I can’t possibly understand because I haven’t been there. I don’t have to walk in your shoes to be able to sympathize nor do I have to agree with you to remain respectful.
I’ve had people who are no longer in my life try to explain their behavior on mythical medical conditions instead of just owning their own bullshit. Where is the accountability anymore? So I may not have had some of the same things happen to me that others have, but does that make my opinion any less valuable or my struggles any less hard?
I think it’s time that people stop hiding behind all these excuses and stand up for your behavior. Take responsibility for what you do and say and if you’re going to judge me based on what you THINK you know about me – think again – there is only person whose judgment matters to me and that is Jesus Christ.
